[Council to Marquis Fayette.]

We have the Honor to transmit the enclosed Letter; this Moment
received from Col. Gouvins [De Gouvion]. We have ordered all the
Vessels at Baltimore and in this Port to be impressed and sent to the
Head of Elk to transport the Detachment under your Command, and
have directed six hundred Barrels of Bread to be forwarded in them.
This State will most chearfully make every Exertion to give Force
and Efficacy to the present important Expedition by every Measure
in our Power.

Monday 5th March 1781.

Colo Henry Hollingsworth appointed in Cecil and John Chalmers
in Ann Arunl Counties to seize Provision of the meat kind not
exceeding 15000tt in each County for the Detachment of Troops under
the Command of the Marquis De la Fayette.
Warrant issued directed to Stephen Steward Esqr to impress all
Vessels in West river and Herring Bay for the purpose of Trans-
porting the above mentd Detachment from the Head of Elk to
Virginia.
Ordered that the Issuing Commissary deliver to Samuel Howard,
James White and Godstow Sterbeck prisoners on their way to Boston
each, three Days provisions. Lieut Colo Ramsey twenty eight Gallons
of Rum and one hundred and twelve pounds of sugar due him to
the first of February inclusive Colo Uriah Forrest thirty two pounds
of Sugar due him to the month of Febry inclusive and also to Capt.
Jonathan Sellman of the 4th Regimt six Gallons of Rum and twenty
four pounds of Sugar due him to the 1st Instant.
That the Armourer deliver to Capt. Joseph Middleton twelve
rounds of powder for swivels.
That the western shore Treasurer pay to Thomas Beatty eighteen
pounds, ten shillings for the use of Richard Haff, seventeen pounds,
thirteen shillings and ten pence for the use of Captain Anthony Stock,
six pounds, nine shillings and four pence half penny for the use of
Charles Bayleys, sixteen shillings and ten pence half penny for the
use of George Beall, one pound and three pence for the use of John
Gauff and sixteen pounds, seventeen shillings and six pence of the
new Emission due himself per Accts passed by the D. Audr
That the said Treasurer pay to Lieut Colo Nathaniel Ramsey
Twenty two pounds eight shillings and ten pence of the same Emis-
sion for Stores per Account passed by the Depy Aud.
That the said Treasurer pay to Capt. Jonathan Sellman four
pounds sixteen shillings and two pence of the same Emission due him
for stores per Account passed by the Depy Aud.
That the Commissary of stores deliver to Lt Colo Nathl Ramsey
Cloth and Trimmings for a suit of Cloaths and Linen for four shirts
