continue t© act as Lieutenant of the County and have at your request
accepted your Resignation and appointed Doctor Thomas to succeed
you to whom we have given Directions respecting the Militia Guard.
The third of this Instant we directed the Commissaries of Prince
Georges Charles and St Mary's Counties to forward all the Pro-
vision they had or could procure to Mr Richardson who was at the
same Time desired to send it to Frederick Town for the Convention
Troops with all possible Expedition. We have wrote to Mr Murdock
to send Waggons to Mr Brookes Commissary of Prince George's
County for the Provision in that County, we have not yet received
an Answer from Congress to the Appreciation for the Removal of
the Prisoners out of our State, enclosed you will receive a late Pensyl-
vania Paper with a supplement containing the King of Great Britain's
Speech to his Parliament the 2d of November last, and Mr Greens
last Paper.

We received your Favor of the 18th Instant and from Information
have no Doubt of Wall's being a Dangerous Person and that it is
proper he should be arrested and sent down to us, that we make
Inquiry into his general Conduct and the Several Circumstances
mentioned in your Letter. We have sent a Warrant to the Lieutenant
of Frederick for that Purpose. If it should appear to us necessary
to confine him we shall send him to Baltimore Goal.

We have received your letter of the 17th current recommending
Mr Maroney his Commission as Cornet goes herewith. Colonel Baker
Johnson in his Letter of the 11th request that some Gentleman may
be appointed Lieutenant of Frederick County and a Captain of the
Guard over the British Troops in his Stead. Enclosed you will re-
ceive a Commission appointing you Lieutenant of Frederick County,
and it is our wish that you command the Guard over the Convention
Troops yourself or appoint a fit Person for that Purpose. It may be
proper to inform you that the Assembly at their late Meeting Re-
solved that the Governor and Council be requested to direct the
Maryland Part of the German Regiment and Capt Brown's Company
