You will receive from Captain Berry one six Pound Cannon with
Carriage, fifty Musquets and Accoutrements, one hundred Cannon
Cartridges, one hundred round six Pound Shot and thirty Pound
Musquet Powder, for the use of the Militia of St. Mary's County,
they are to be delivered to Richard Barnes Esqr or in his Absence to
the commanding Officer of the County to be applied in such Manner
as he may direct and think most necessary for the Protection of the
Inhabitants.

By the present Arrangement of the Army, the artillery Companies
of this State are attached to the Virginia Regiment of Artillery, that
Regiment having a compleate Corps of officers for ten Companies,

there is a Probability of the Privates of the Maryland Companies
incorporated with and turned over to the Regiment and the officer
left without Command of this Capt Brown and others entertain in
our opinion well grounded Apprehensions unless the Honble General
Assembly take order therein, we wish to remove every just Cause of
Complaint of Gentleman who have rendered essential Services in our
Army and therefore beg leave to refer their Case to the Consideration
of the honorable General Assembly.

By the Examination of John Stump Junior or son of John, it
appears that a Partnership for purchasing Wheat commenced be-
tween John Stump the third or son of Henry, Colonel Henry Hol-
lingsworth and himself on the 24th August 1780, and continued till
some Time in January Instant. That all the wheat purchased on
Account of the Company except 1000 Bushels, sold to Gilpin and
Coale and delivered in December and January and five or six hundred
Bushels now on Hand and stored, in the dwelling House of Nathaniel
Giles lately deceased under the Care of Benjamin Fleetwood, was
manufactured by Colonel Hollingsworth and sold by him in Phila-
delphia and Wilmington on the Partnership Account. That Colonel
Hollingsworth sold one hundred and ten Barrels of Flour to Tench
Francis one of the Philadelphia Bank and one hundred to Jonathan
Rumford in Wilmington. That they did not pay for the Wheat
purchased by them more than £25..0..0.. a Bushel until Gilpin and
Coale interfered in their Purchases (which was after 13th December
last) and raised the Price to one hundred Dollars. That Gilpin and
Coale sold their wheat to Daniel Burns a Miller who lives near
Cristeen. That Colonel Hollingsworth entered into Partnership with
Gilpin and Coale about the Middle of December last to purchase
Wheat, and that they raised the Price to 100 Dollars, that Col. Hol-
lingsworth sent his vessel for the wheat purchased on Account of
