We have just applied to the Treasurer and am informed that there

is not a Dollar of any kind of Money in it, subject to our Order, there

are incessant Demands on us from every Quarter, for considerable


Sums, and we have little indeed or no Prospect of answering them,


and unless some efficacious Measure is adopted by the Assembly to


procure an immediate Supply, it will be impossible for us to extricate


ourselves from the embarrassing and distressing Difficulties in which


we are involved. We have furnished Mr. Poe with forty Hogsheads


of Tobacco, which he is directed to dispose of for the best Price as


speedily as possible.


Friday 26th. January 1781

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Alien Quynn

Esquire six pounds fifteen shillings of the new Emission in lieu of

p. 36

two hundred and seventy Pounds due him per Account passed by


the Depy Aud.


That the Armourer deliver to Richard Verdin two hundred pounds


of powder and fifty Muskets to be delivered over to Francis Ware


Esquire Lieutt of Charles County for the use of the Militia of said


County.


That the Issuing Commissary deliver to the said Richard Verdin


one Beeves hide to cover powder and Arms sent to Colo Ware

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Philip Stichbury

thirty three pounds one shilling and six pence of the new Emission

in lieu of one thousand three hundred and fifty pounds due him per


Acct passed by the Aud. Gl


That the said Treasurer pay to Alice Redman, one pound seven-


teen shillings and six pence of the same Emission in lieu of seventy


five pounds due her per Account passed by the Depy Aud.


That the said Treasurer pay to Stephen Steward and son Stephen


three hundred pounds of the same Emission on Account


That the said Treasurer pay to Daniel Munro twelve pounds, ten


shillings of the same Emission on Account.


That the Eastern shore Treasurer pay to James Hindman fifty


seven pounds, ten shillings of the same Emission in lieu of two


thousand three hundred pounds for a Horse purchased of Alexander


Anderson for the use of the State on Account.


That the said Treasurer pay to William Milburn four thousand


pounds to be delivered over to Colo Samuel Smith on Account


That the said Treasurer pay to Capt. Gilbert Middleton, one


thousand pounds to be expended in the purchase of sundry Articles


for the Dolphin and plater to be accounted for.
