agreeable to the Terms, and for the Ballance due on the Voyage by
the Fox, otherwise we are doubtful whether we should have a suffi-
cient Sum in Cadiz, to purchase as much as the Vessels are to bring
back Freight free for the State, of these and other Circumstances
you must be the best Judge. We rely on your Direction and Conduct
in the Transaction of this Business, and shall only suggest that the
Advantages of the Voyage to Cadiz must appear considerable to
compensate for the additional Risque and Delay of remittance. We
leave the enclosed to Mr Richard Harrison open for your perusal
and Government. The Vessels are to be eventually consigned to
him. If his Excellency the Governor of the Havannah should in
Consequence of our Request to him consent to supply us on reason-

able Terms with the whole or the most material Articles contained
in the Invoice enclosed to Mr Harrison, in that Case we would have
one or more of the Vessels to return immediately, according to the
Quantity of the Supplies you obtain, Such Supplies to be shiped on
Account of the State.

A certain Joseph Shoemaker is confined in Baltimore County
Goal as a Prisoner of War, he was taken in Cheasepeak Bay and has
a Captains Commission from the Enemy. It has been intimated to
us that he is a Subject of your State and formerly resided in York
Town. If upon Enquiry your Excellency should be of opinion that
he is a Subject of Virginia and you think proper to claim he shall be
sent under a Sufficient Guard to Alexandria and delivered to such
Persons as you shall direct to receive him there, and in the mean
Time he shall remain in Custody. Your Excellency will be so oblig-
ing as to inform us as early as possible.
