[Council to Mr. William McLaughlin.]
We are informed by the Consul of France that many of the Sub-
jects of the King of France residing in Baltimore Town, have been
assessed, that they have refused to pay the Assessments, and that
the Collector, to enforce Payment, is about to execute their Effects.
This Subject will be laid before the Assembly in the Morning and we
wish you would suspend the Collection, 'til their Resolution is
known. If you apply to the Consul, he will point out the Persons
he thinks ought to be exempted.
