signing the Test. The Gentleman takes his Seat in the House.
Resolved, That the Serjeant at Arms acquaint Mr William Rogers,
Mayor of the City of Annapolis, that this House requires his imme-
diate Attendance.
Mr Rogers appearing at the Bar of the House, Mr Speaker de-
livered himself in the following manner.
This House, after a full Enquiry into the merits of the Election
for the City of Annapolis, have found and Resolved, that Dr George
Steuart was not duly elected: They have likewise found and re-
solved that Mr Stephen Bordley is duly elected, and therefore ought
to have been returned: And have accordingly sent for you, as being
the principal Member of this Corporation, to regulate the Return,
by erasing the name of Dr George Steuart, and inserting in its
Place the name of Stephen Bordley, who is the person you ought at
first to have mentioned therein: And you are by this House ordered
to do it accordingly.
In Pursuance whereof, the Return was, by the said Mayor, altered
accordingly.
Capt Gordon, and Dr Carroll are sent to the Upper House, with
Mr Bordley, to see him qualified. They return and acquaint Mr
Speaker they saw him qualified, by taking the several Oaths to the
Government required by Law, signing the Oath of Abjuration, and
repeating and signing the Test. The Gentleman takes his seat in
the House.
Mr Bordley added to the Committee of Laws.
On motion, of a member, that the Governour be address'd to ac-
quaint this House what kind of Security is given by the several Naval
Officers, for such Sums of Money as they collect by virtue of Acts
of Assembly of this Province; Ordered, That Mr George, Mr Stough-
ton and Mr Bordley, prepare the same

The House met according to Adjournment.
On Motion of a Member, that a Bill be brought in for the better
regulating of Elections; Leave given and Ordered, that the Com-
mittee of Laws prepare and bring in the same.
Mr Stoughton brings in the Address to his Excellency, which was
read, approved of, and ordered to be ingrossed.
The following ingrossed Address to his Excellency the Governour
viz.
To his Excellency Thomas Bladen Esqr Governour of Maryland.
The Humble Address of the House of Delegates of the said
Province.
