Mr Cruikshank being by his Removal incapacitated to Execute
the Trusts in that Act and Mr Hyde having declined this trade, We
apprehend, there is only Mr Hunt now remaining of the Trustees
named in the Act to whom we Can so properly Apply ourselves as
we Could wish in discharge of the duty required from us by that
Act, And as Mr Hunt may dye or if it be our Misfortune your
Lordship should.
We therefore Humbly hope your Lordship will be pleased to make
an Appointment of such persons to be Trustees as may make up the
full Number (which is three) Originally designed by that Act. And
that your Lordship would direct their names to be Signified to us
that we may Conform Accordingly.
The first payment of the Paper money by Bills of Exchange is
to be made on the 29th September 1748. At which time one third of
the Bills then produced is to be discharged, and all the Bills to be
burnt, And two thirds to be Reemitted in new Bills, By this we
are under a Necessity of being provided with a proper number of
bills And have by this Conveyance directed Messrs Hunt and Hyde
(Agreeable to the Inclosed Letter) to forward them to us, And we
doubt not but by your Lordships Directions to those Gentlemen we
receive them in the Safest and Speedyest Manner, For we must be
greatly Streightned in time to Compleat the Bills after they Come
to our hands by Signing and Distinguishing them so as to prevent
Imposition.
A Committee of both houses every Session inspect not only our
Accounts; but those sent from England, which not being Accom-
panyed with any Certificate from the Bank or Affidavit that the
money in the Account was Lodged there in Bank Stock, the Lower
house made a Resolution which we take the liberty to lay before
your Lordship
We have always been very unwilling to trouble your Lordship
with any Applycations; But as these particulars so nearly relate to
the due Execution of the Trusts, in which the well being and prop-
erty of the People of this Province are so greatly Concerned, We
flatter ourselves your Lordship will Excuse this freedom, And more
Especially as your Lordships care and Superintendency in this mat-
ter are not only Considered by the Act of the Assembly but by the
Province in General as one of the best Securitys, That this Act shall
be Executed with Iustice and Exactness in the most material parts
of it.
