The House met according to Adjournment.
Mr Smith, from the Committee of Elections and Privileges, de-
livers to Mr Speaker the following Report, viz.
By the Committee of Elections and privileges, July 3. 1747
Your Committee having inspected the Writ directed to the Sheriff
of Dorchester County, with the Indenture thereunto annexed, do
find, That Mr Daniel Sulivane, a Member for the said County, is
duly returned. We also find by the writs directed to the sheriff of
Somerset County with the Indentures thereunto annexed. That
Messieurs Isaac Handy and Robert Jenkins Henry, members for the
said County of Somerset, are likewise duly returned.
And submit the same to the Consideration of your Honourable
House. Signed per Order. Richard Dorsey Cl. Com.
The Conferees of the House having Returned, and acquainted
Mr Speaker, that the Conferees of the Upper House proposed to them
to go through the several Clauses of the Bill, before they gave An-
swer to the last Instruction given by this House to their Conferees
thereupon; The Question was put, whether the Conferees of this
House shall be instructed to proceed on the Bill entituled, An Act
for amending the staple of Tobacco, &c. leaving the answer of the
Conferees of the Upper House to the last Instruction given by this
House, to be considered hereafter; or not? Resolved in the Af-
firmative
