The Governor communicated to Mr Speaker the following An-
swer, viz.
Gentlemen of the Lower House of Assembly
In Answer to your Address, presented to me yesterday Evening,
I assure you I shall be always ready to discountenance as far as in
me lies, all oppressive and Illegal Acts of power, in any person what-
soever, against any of his Lordship's Tenants; and whatever par-
ticular Disputes may happen, with contentious people, I cannot but
flatter myself in the main, that the ffarmers and Receivers of his
Lordship's Quit Rents, will not only keep within the strict Letter of
the Law, but make their several Collections as easy and Convenient
to the people as possible; and this will always be the surest way they
can take of Recommending themselves to the favour of the Gov-
ernment Sam. Ogle.
