Mr Speaker likewise communicates to the House the following
Message from the Governor Viz.
Gentlemen of the Lower House of Assembly
Before I received your Address I directed some Servants who
were enlisted to be discharged and I shall Continue so to do when
Application shall be made to me as I am convinced that it would
be unjust to, and a great Hardship on Masters to be deprived of
their servants Labour: But at the same time I must be careful to
avoid giving any Obstruction to his Majestys Service by Discharging
2 Persons inlisted who have entered into Contracts of Servitude for
a few Months. T. Bladen
Mr Phillip Hammond delivers Mr Speaker an Address to the
Governor which was read approved and Ordered to be Ingrossed

The Ingrossed Address being brought in read and Assented to
was Ordered on Behalf of the House to be signed by the Honble
Speaker and be it as follows Viz.

To His Excellency Thomas Bladen Esqr Governor of Maryland
The Humble Address of the House of Delegates
May it please your Excellency
Tis with the Greatest Pleasure we here of the Success of his

Majesty's Arms in North Britain and of the late decisive Victory
obtained over the Rebels near Inverness and have no reason to doubt
but that welcome news will be soon confirm'd.
We assure Your Excellency that our Hearts are sincerely elated
at this Happy Event and we shall in our respective Neighbourhoods
communicate the same and make no Doubt but it will be very Satis-
factory to all the People of Maryland and that in each County they
will give Testimony of their joy suitable to the Occasion without any
publick Charge and we make no Question of your Excellency's doing
the like in the most handsome manner at the seat of the Government
Mr Lloyd and Mr Wilkinson ordered to acquaint his Excellency
that this House hath prepared An Address to him and desires to
know when and where he will please to receive, they return and
Acquaint Mr Speaker his Excellency will be ready immediately to
receive it in the Council Chamber.
The same Gentlemen sent to present the Address. They return
and Acquaint Mr Speaker they have presented
The house adjourns til To-morrow Morning 9 of the Clock
