Read the Petition of Daniel Dulany Esqr Commissary General
A Message from the Lower House with the Association by Messrs
Buchanan and Tilghman
By the Lower House of Assembly 19 March 1745
May it please Your Honours

Had you thought proper to have consulted with the house of
Delegates upon the form of the Association or sent down the same
to have had the Sentiments of this House before Your signing, It
might have prevented its being returned as it now is unsigned, by
Us for that We do not approve of every Part thereof
However to shew Our Real Disposition We are ready to join in
a Conference with Your Honours for the forming one which may
be agreable to the different Branches of the Legislature
Signed p Order Wm Tilghman Ct Lo Ho.
Adjourned till to Morrow Morning ten of the Clock

The following Message sent by Philip Thomas Esqr
By the Upper House of Assembly 20 March 1745
Gentlemen
We thought the Association sent down to Your House was
couched in such Expressions as not to admit of an Exception and
the manner of sending it might have Expedited the Business with-
out intending the least Disrespect to Your House but as you desire
a Conference on the Subject matter thereof We readily agree to the
same and have accordingly appointed Philip Thomas and Daniel
Dulany Esqrs to confer with such Members as you may think proper
to appoint for that Purpose
Signed p Order J Ross Ci Up Ho.
Messrs Mackall and Tilghman from the Lower House attend with
Mr Walter Smith a Member elected for Calvert County in Order
to see him qualified who takes the Oaths to the Government ap-
pointed to be taken by Act of Assembly repeats and subscribes the
Abjuration and Test and then withdrew
