The House met according to Adjournment.
Col. King delivers Mr Speaker the following Report, viz.
At a Committee appointed by the Honourable the Lower House
of Assembly, to enquire what Commodities, besides Tobacco it will
be convenient to tax, and how much, towards raising a Sum to be
paid his Lordship in lieu of his Quit Rents ;

Your Committee conceive that the following Merchandize and
Commodities will bear the several Duties or Imposts to them respec-
tively annexed, that of a particular Duty on Wheat and Corn ex-
cepted, not being agreed to by your Committee, they being equally
divided therein.

Negroes 20S Sterling per Head, additional Duty.
White Servants in general 5s per Head
Rum and Spirits, 5s per Hundred Gallons, in all Bottoms and by
whatever ways and means brought in, with the usual Discount
allowed.
Every Pipe of Wine. 5s, and so in Proportion of a smaller Cask,
with the usual Discount allowed.
All which is humbly submitted to the Consideration of your

On Reading of which, a Question was put, Whether a Duty shall
be laid on Wheat and Flour exported ? Resolved in the Negative.
