Commissioners or Trustees for emitting Bills of Credit, established
by Act of Assembly, every year, during the Continuance of this Act ;
and every such County Clerk is, and they are hereby obliged to
return Such Accounts, distinctly and fairly made out, as aforesaid,
for which an Allowance shall be made to such County Clerk, for his
legal Fees, in the County Levy.
And be it likewise Enacted, That the Sherif of every respective
County within this Province, who shall receive any of the Duty
herein before mentioned, arising on the Bringing in or Importation
of Horses, Mares or Geldings, shall, and they are hereby directed,
in Virtue of their Office, to pay the same unto the Commissioners
or Trustees for emitting Bills of Credit, established by Act of As-
sembly, before the last Day of April yearly, and so every year during
the Continuance of this Act, to be by them the said Commissioners
applied to discharge and repay the said Sum of three Thousand
Pounds.
And be it further Enacted, That if any Person or Persons what-
soever, shall bring or import, by Land or Water, any Horse, Mare,
or Gelding, or Horses, Mares or Geldings for Sale, and shall pre-
sume to sell or expose the same to Sale, before such Entry and Duty
paid as is herein before directed, and Copy of such Entry, and Re-
ceipt for the said Duty, so as aforesaid had and obtained, shall for-
feit for every such Horse, Mare or Gelding, so sold or exposed to
Sale as aforesaid, to the right honourable the Lord Proprietary of
this Province, the sum of ten Pounds Current money, one Half to
the Informer who shall sue for the same, the other half to be ap-
plied to the uses in this Act herein before mentioned.
And be it likewise Enacted, That any Person or Persons within
this Province, who shall purchase or buy any Horse, Mare, or Geld-
ing, or Horses, Mares or Geldings, imported or brought in for Sale,
before the Entry and Payment of the Duty aforesaid, shall forfeit
and pay to the Right honourable the Lord Proprietary, for every
such Horse, Mare, or Gelding, so by them bought before Entry and
Payment of Duty as aforesaid, the Sum of ten Pounds; one Moiety
whereof to the Informer, or who shall sue for the same, the other to
be applied to the Uses and Purposes in this Act before mentioned.
And be it further Enacted That the Forfeitures herein before
mentioned, relating to the Importation of Horses, Mares, or Geld-
ings, shall and may be recovered in any Court of Record within
this Province, by Action of Debt, Bill, Plaint, or Information,
wherein no Essoyn, Protection, or Wager of Law shall be allowed.
And be it further Enacted, That if any Part of the Fines and For-
feitures heretofore arising on Ordinary Licenses, by Virtue of an
Act entituled, An Act for raising and issuing money, for main-
taining his Majesty's Forces to be raised in this Province, and for
transporting them to the Place of Rendevous in the West Indies,
