To the honble the Gour & Councell &c :

The humble Petn of Samuel Tilghman Humbly Sheweth That yoe
Pete hauing in the yeare 56 transported out of England Willm Edwin
of this Prouince uppon the ship Goulden ffortune & the sd Edwin
hauing not satis fyed according to Agreemt yor Petr craues Judgmt
for his Debt wth costs of suite, & allowance for fforbearance
And hee shall pray &c :
To the ptfs Petn and the Bond produced by him, The deft sayth
that hee payd a Steare formerly in part of Satisfaction of tht Debt,
& profered to satisfy the remainder in Cattle.

June the 2d 1657

Recd of goodman Edwin in part of paymt one small Steare con-
teyning the weight of 251l for the use of Capt Tilghman by me
John Mochar Boteswaine

Wch Receipt the ptf acknowleclgeth.
It is Ordered tht the deft pay Eight hundd twenty fowre pownds of
Tob to the plf, or ells Two Cowes about 5 or 6 yeares old, wth their
encrease for two yeares. And then the ptf to repay to the deft Two
hundd fifty one pownd of meate. It being the weight of the Steare
formerly killed for the use of the plf.

Kedger v.
Tilghman

To the honble Josias ffendall Esqr Gour & the honble Councell &c :
The humble Petn of Robert Kedger Humbly Sheweth That yor
Petr deliuered to Capt Samuel Tilghman a Bill of 1800l of Tob due
from Jenkin Price of Accomack yor Petr desyring the sd Capt Tilgh-
man to receaue the same for yor Petrs use. Wch the sd Capt Tilghman
promised to doe, & to be accountable therefore to yor Pef if he
receaued it from the sd Jenkin: if not, tht he would returne the Bill
againe to yor Petr ( as by a Receipt under his hand to tht purpose may
appeare) But soe it is tht the sd Capt Tilghman hath receiued the sd
1800l of Tob of the sd Jenken, & yett refuseth to make yor Pef satis-
faction, or be accomptable for the same.
Wherefore yor Pef prayeth tht the sd Capt Tilgman may make yor
Pef satisfaction wth dammage for the sd summe of Tob wth Costs of
Suite, & yor Pef shall pray &c :
Receiued of Robt Kedger a Bill of Eighteene hundd pownds of Tob
due alt Accomack from Jenkin Price, The which Bill I doe promise
eyther to Returne unto the sd Robt Kedger or Receauing the sd Tob.
to bee accountable unto him for the same, as wittnes my hand the
first day of May 1654 Sam: Tilghman.
