Two Bills from the Lower House by M^rs Hemsley & Stoddert,

One Entituled an Act to continue an Act of Assembly of this Prov-
ince Entituled an Act for the better Relief of poor Debtors; the
Other Entituled An Act for the further Assesment of twenty thou-
sand pounds of Tobacco on the taxable Inhabitants of Durham
Parish in Charles County to be applyed to the finishing of a new
Church in the said Parish already begun to be built severall thus

Read the second time the following Bills Viz. I^st Entituled an
Act for the further Assesment of twenty thousand pounds of Tob^o
on the taxable Inhabitants of Durham Parish in Charles County
to be applyed to the finishing of a new Church in the said Parish
already begun to be built ;
2^nd An Act for continuing an Act of Assembly of this Province
entituled an Act to prevent cuting up Tob^o Plants destroying of
Tobacco and Tob^o houses and for ascertaining the Punishm^t of
Criminals guilty of the said Offences
3^d An Act for the further Assesment of so much money on the
taxable Inhabitants of King and Queen Parish in S^t Marys and
Charles Counties as will build a new Church in that part of the
Parish which lies in S^t Marys County for the repairing of Newport
Church in the same Parish and to appoint a Time for the Freeholders
to meet in Order to chuse a Place to build the said Church upon

5^th An Act for the building a Courthouse and Repository for the
Records in Leonard town in S^t Marys County
