384 Assembly Proceedings, March 19, 1735/6-April 10, 1736.

Cheif Justice of the Provincial Court of Maryland, that he Saw
Michl Curtis late of St Marys County Gent. Deceased and Sarah his
wife Sign Scale and Execute an Indenture of Bargain and Sale to
Charles Carroll, late of Ann Arundell County Esqr Deceased Bear-
ing Date the Eighteenth Day of May Seventeen hundred and Eleven
for Several Manners Lands &ca in the aforesaid County of St Mary's
&c. and also Saw the said Michl Curtis and Sarah his wife sign
Seale and Execute a power of Attorney on the Back of the said Deed
to William Bladen and Wernel Hunt Esqr &ca to Acknowledge the
said Deed &c. and further that the said George Birches did Sub-
scribe the said Deed and power of Attorney as a Witness, and like-
wise Saw John Baptista Carberry Subscribe the said Indenture and
power likewise a Witness, he being present at the Execution of
Both.

Sworn to the 26th of March 1736 Before me Levin Gale.

We further Certify that it Appears to your Committee that the
Petitioner gave Publick and timely Notice of his Application as
Appears by Certificates under the Hands and Seals of office of the
Clerks of St Marys and Charles County's all which we Humbly Sub-
mit to the Consideration of the Lower House of Assembly.

Coll Ward from the Upper House Delivers Mr Speaker the peti-
tion of King and Queen Parish in St Mary's County, Indorsed re-
ferred to the Consideration of The Lower House of Assembly.
Ordered the Committee of Aggreivances do Inspect into the
several Returns of the Justices of the County Courts, to the Gov-
ernour, Concerning the records and make their Report to the House.
The Bill Entituled an Act for the further Restraining the Evil and
Fraudulent practices of Sheriffs, Read the Second time and passed
Sent to the Upper House, by Mr George and Mr Hammond.
The House Adjourns Untill two of the Clock in the Afternoon.

Post Merediem.
The House met according to Adjournment &c. The Petition of

p. 619

Andrew Ramsey, Henry Mcaull and William Gordon &c Complain-
ing of a Loss of Tobacco, in the Ship Speedwell foundered at Sea
and having paid the Countrey Duties for the Said Tobacco under
a Law then in force, praying leave to Reship the like Quantity of
Tobacco which was lost, duty free, or Other relief. A Bill ordered
to be Brought in Accordingly.
