mately Acquainted with the said Charles Carroll Esqr and had Con-
siderable Dealings with him and Verily Believes that the Said Mr
Carroll was a man of great Honour, honestay and Justice and that
no Temptation would have Induced him to be Concerned in a for-
gery or any fraudulent or Dishonest means, to Acquire the said
Lands or any other.

Sworn to the 27th March 1736 Before me Levin Gale.

Justinian Jordan of St Marys County being Sworn on the Holy
Evangels of Almighty God, before Levin Gale Esqr Chief Justice of
the Provincial Court Deposeth that he very well Knew the parties to
a Deed of Bargain, and Sale made the Eighteenth Day of May Sev-
enteen hundred and Eleven between Charles Carroll Esqr and Michl
Curtis and Sarah Curtis his wife all Deceased and that he The De-
ponant, was and is a Resident in St Marys County and a Nigh Neigh-
bour to the Said Michl and Sarah Curtis, that he was Intimately
acquainted with the said Michl and Sarah Curtis, and, has heard
them Say, they Sould The Lands mentioned in the said Deed to
Charles Carroll Esqr and never heard them Complain that the pur-
chase money, was not payed, or of any fraud, or Injustice he further
Deposeth that the Sale of the said Lands was a very publick fact,
that part of the bills past by Charles Carroll Esqr Deceased as he

Supposcth for the Consideration for the said Lands were kept by the

said Michl Curtis until he Dyed, and that after his Decease the De-
ponants Mother Being a Joint Executrix to the said Michl part of the
Bills aforesaid, to a Considerable Value fell under this Deponants
Negotiation on behalfe of his mother, That this Deponant is Ac-
quainted with the hand writeing of the Parties to the said Deed and
verily Believes the three Names Set Down at the Bottom of the
said Deed, and also of two of them to the power on the Back of it
to be the proper hand writing of the parties mentioned in the said
Deed and power.
The Said Deponant further Deposeth and Saith that he was well
Acquainted with the hand writing of Mr Saml Williamson and Mr
John Baptista Carberry late of St Marys County Deceased and Verily
believes The Names of the said Williamson, and Carberry Sub-
scribed as Witnesses to the Deed and power and Williamsons Name
