The following Message is sent by Philip Lee Esqr
By the Upper House of Assembly 2 April 1736
Gentlemen
This house upon Examination into the Order reported by your
Committee to have been obtained from the Clerks of both houses
by William Rogers for the Payment of fifty pounds, find that such
Order was only signed by the Clerk of Your House, whereas the
Power of disposing Moneys inappropriated is vested in the legisla-
tive Body, for Want of which necessary Authority that Payment
seems to have been made by Mistake, which we doubt not will be
avoided for the future, And as Mr Rogers does not deny the facts
set forth in the Report of your Committee, by his Answer to Your
house, but submits himself to both houses, we hope he will take what
Care he can to give any further Satisfaction that may be required
from him
Signed p Order John Ross Cl Up H.
