tions are not filed. Blanks are left aforesaid, But from the said
October Court till the said Mr Vachel Denton was Superseeded which
was on the Eight Day of August 1732 We do not find any Judg-
ments Entered.
Your Committee have also Inspected the Original Papers in those
Years where the Judgments are not Entered and find them in good
Order but in many Cases there are no Declarations filed upon Judg-
ments given the first Courts, particularly in a Cause between John
Haswell & John Beall; and in a Cause of the Lord Proprietary
against Ernault Hawkins the Original Papers are all Missing, which
were Delivered to Philemon Lloyd Esqr then Secretary as appears
to your Committee by the said Mr Lloyds Letter to Mr William
Ghiselin then a Clerk under Mr Denton in the Provincial office, and
your Committee are Informed that Mr Denton often applyed to the
Secretary for Books to Enter Judgments in and could not get Any
from him Your Committee are also told by the said Mr Ghiselin
that the said office was frequently without Books and Paper and Mr
Samuel Chew Administrator of the said Philemon Lloyd Esqr hath
Likewise acquainted your Committee that Mr Vachel Denton applyed
to him some time in October or November last for Record Books
to Enter Judgments that should have been done in the Time of the
late Secretary Lloyd. That the said Mr Chew then knew of none
to be had, but hath since heard of some Books which he will En-
deavour to procure for the Uses aforesaid.
And your Committee further report that the Judgments since Mr
William Ghiselin was Sworn Clerk of the Provincial Court are all
Regularly Entered,
all which we Submit to the House

Which being read, ordered that Mr Key Mr Richard Francis And
Mr George be appointed to bring in a Bill to remedy the Inconve-
niences therein Complained of Michael Howard Esqr from the
Upper House Delivers Mr Speaker the Paper Bill Entituled an Act
reviving an Act Entituled an Act for relief of Prisoners for Debt,
the Paper Bill Entituled an Act to aid the Defect in the Certificate
of Acknowledgment of a Deed from William Pile &c. And the Paper
Bill Entituled an Act reviving and Continuing the Acts therein Men-
tioned and the Paper Bill Entituled an Act repealing an Act En-
tituled an Act against Ingrossers and Regrators: Severally Indorsed :
The Ingrossed Bill whereof this is the Original is Read and Assented
to.
