By the lower House of Assembly 7th August 1732
May it please Your Honours.
We have agreed to the Amendmts proposed by your Honours to
the bill for emitting 72000£ in Bills of Credit Except what relates
to the nomination of the Commrs or Trustees to put the Act in Exe-
cution by the Governor or President; which we cannot Agree to,
not from the least Disrespect for the Govr for whom we have the
most Dutifull regard, or Intention to Slight him, but merely because
we are well Assured of our own Right, and the Regularity of the
Commrs or Trustees being nominated by the Assembly in a Money
Bill like this, which the Country is obliged to Support at all Events,
and should this house give up a Right so well known, upon a Single
Instance passed Sub Silentio (for ought appears) We know not how
far it may be drawn into Example to the Prejudice of the People we
represent which our Duty & Interest obliges us to guard Against
with the greatest Care, and therefore we hope and Desire your
Honours will pass the Bill as herein proposed leaving the nomination
of the Commissioners or Trustees in the Assembly and inserting their
names in the Bill
Signed p order M Macnemara Cl. Lo. Ho.
