Members of the Upper House
A message from the Lower House by Mr Harris & Major Hanson
By the Lower House of Assembly May the 25th 1730
May it please your Honours
This House being Convinced, as We believe Your Honours are,
That a Tobacco Law is absolutely necessary to save the country from
Ruin And that as it is an Affair of so great Consequence it ought
to be considered in the best manner possible, not only to avoid as
many Objections as may be thought of but also to prevent any greater
delay than the nature of the business requires. We propose, as an
Expedient to dispatch so necessary a Work and to prevent any Dis-
putes or misunderstandings with your Honours about it, to appoint
a Committee of this House to Join with some of your Members in
Order to draw a bill to be passed into a Tobacco Law.
Signed p Order M. Macnemara Cl. Lo. Ho.
