To the Honourable Benedt Leonard Calvert Esqr Governor of
Maryland.

The Humble Address of the Lower house of Assembly
May it Please your Honour.
By the report of the Committee of Aggreivances & Courts of Jus-
tice as well as by the Inspection of the Present Provincial Court
Commission (which Issued before your Honrs Arrival in this Prov-
ince) it appears to this House that there is a Considerable Difference
between the said Commissions in that part of it which Directs the
Justices by what Laws they are to Administer Justice to his Majestys
Subjects within this Province, & the Oath of Judge or Justice Pre-
scribed by Act of Assembly And this House being apprehensive that
a Variance between the Commission & Oath of Judge may be Mis-
cheivous to the People we represent.

We entreat your Honour to give Directions that all the Commis-
sions of Judges or Justices be made and Drawn Conformable to the
said Oath.
Which Said Address was approved by the House & Ingrossed and
Signed by Order of the House p

Mr Gordon & Mr George are ordered to go & acquaint the Gover-
nor that this House hath Prepared an Address to him & Desire to
know if he is at Leasure to receive the same they return and say the
Governor is ready to receive the said Address in the Council Cham-
ber whereupon Mr Gordon & five more were ordered to go and Pre-
sent the Address, They return and Say they Delivered it.
The House Adjourns untill 2 of the Clock in the Afternoon

Wednesday at 2 of the Clock in the Afternoon

The House met according to Adjournment. The Members were
Called over and all Present as in the Morning.
The Question was Put whether this House should take into Con-
sideration the Legality of the Lord Proprietary's Commission to
the Present Commissary Generals Next Session or not Resolved in
the Affirmative

Edmund Jennings Esqr and Mr Gordon are ordered by this House
to go (with Benjamin Tasker Esqr who is Appointed by the Upper
House) to Acquaint the Governor that this House hath Prepared an
Address in Conjunction with the Upper House and Desireth to
know if he is at Leasure to receive the same. They return and Say
they Delivered their Message And the Governor will receive the
Address in half an hour in the Conference Chamber
