420 Assembly Proceedings, July 10-August 8, 1729.

Mr Hollyday and Mr Thompson deliver to Mr Speaker a Bill En-
tituled an Act for the Assessment of Ten p Poll on the Taxable
persons in St Pauls Parish in Queen Anns County the next Levy
and Ten p Poll the ensuing also for the Assessing ten p Poll Yearly

on the Taxable Persons in Sr Lukes Parish in Queen Anns County
untill they shall have raised Sufficient to Compleat a Church in the
said Parish which bill was read the first and second time by an
Especial Order and Passed and Sent to the Upper House by Majr
Turbutt & Mr Thompson.
Who return and say they Delivered the Same.
The Bill Entituled an Act to Encourage the Importation of Gold
and Silver into this province was read the first and Second time by
an Especial Order and Passed and sent to the Upper House by
James Hollyday Esqr and Collo Ennalls, Who return & say they
Delivered the same.
Mr Key from the Committee of Laws Delivered to Mr Speaker
a bill Entituled an Act concerning the Parishes in Saint Mary's and
Charles Counties which Bill was read the first and Second time by
an Especial Order and Passed.
And Sent to the Upper House by Mr Key and Mr Courts Who
return and say they Delivered the Same.
Mr Edward Sprigg a Member returned to Serve for Prince
Georges County in the room of Majr Samuel Perrie deceased Ap-
peared in the House this Day.
Collo Belt and Mr Magruder were ordered to go to the Upper
House with Mr Sprigg to see him Qualified, they return and Say
they saw the same done Whereupon Mr Sprigg took his place In the
House.
John Hall Esqr from the Upper House delivered to Mr Speaker
the bill Entituled an Act for the further Assessment of forty thou-
sand Pounds of Tobacco on the Inhabitants of Saint Anns Parish
in Ann Arundell County &ca thus Indorsed Viz.

By the Upper House of Assembly 25th July 1729
Read the first time and ordered to Lie on the Table
Signed p Order Jno Ross Cl. Up. Ho.

p. 63

And thus.

By the Upper House of Assembly 28th July 1729

Read the Second time and will Pass the Sherriff being Allowed
five p Cent without Deduction for Collecting the within Quantity
of Tobacco.
