Friday Morning October the 4th 1728
This House met again according to Adjournment
Present as yesterday except Charles Calvert Esqr
Mr Richard Warfield and Edmund Jenings Esqr attend with
Robert Gordon Esqr one of the members elected for the City of
Annapolis in order to see him qualified
Whereupon the said Robert Gordon took the several Oaths to
the Government appointed to be taken by Act of Assembly and Sub-
scribed the Oath of Abjuration & Test according to the directions
of the said Act after which they withdrew
Daniel Dulany and John Beale Esqrs from the Lower House
attend with Mr Michael Macnemara chosen by that House as Clerk
thereof for his Excellencys Approbation of which choice his Excel-
lency is pleased to approve
And thereupon the said Michael Macnemara took the Oaths to
the Govt appointed to be taken by Act of Assembly subscribed the
oath of Abjuration & Test and also took the Oath of Clerk of the
Lower House & then they withdrew
Colo Richard Tilghman and John Rousby Esqr are sent to the
Lower House to acquaint them that his Excellency requires the
Speaker and the whole House to attend him in the Council Cham-
ber
Who return and say they Delivered their message
The Speaker and the whole House accordingly attend on his Ex-
cellency to whom he is pleased to make the following Speech viz.
Gentlemen of the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly
The prosperity of the province of Maryland is the Subject of my
daily wishes as it ever shall be of my constant endeavours and I
embrace with pleasure every opportunity to Advance it hence arises
the Satisfaction with which I meet you at this time the choice of
Representatives which the Country seem to have made gives me the
agreable Prospect of an happy issue to our Consultations whereby
the Sovereign Interest of the Crown the Government of the Lord
