and that I may Demean myself so (if possible) to Answer his
Majtys Great goodness in Approveing and my Lord Proprys
Bounty in placeing of me in this Station
And as I cannt more Effectually Shew my Loyalty to Our
Sovn Lord King George than in a Steady Adherence to our
happy Establishmt in his Illustrious Line by Encourageing and
trusting in the Severall Offices of Government his Majesty's
Approv'd and try'd Subjects and keeping wthin due bounds our
unhappy Dissenters from it wch I am Determined to do so I
Cannot more Sincerely Shew my duty to our Lord and Propry
than by Zealously Recomending to your Deliberate and Peace-
full Consideration the Severall Matters and things with which
I am Instructed Copy's whereof I shall Ordr forthwth to be
Laid before you wch when by your wise Counsells happily Ac-
complish'd must necessarily tend to a reale Benefitt and Last-
ing good understanding Between the Proprietr!e & his Majtys
faithfull Subjects of this Province from whence I hope to
make my Government most Acceptable to you.
Gentln. I have had Experience and felt myself the benne-
fitt of his Lordships Benign sweet Disposition And I am well
acquainted wth his Practice and Steady Resolution in treading
in the paths of Justice and Honr and I have his Perticular

Comands to Assure you that his whole Aim and Study shall
be to Live wth the good People of Maryland as a Bountifull
Indulgent Father would towds a dutiful Deserving son, And
I affirm if you will do your parts, he will delight himself in
doing his

Thereupon Mr Speaker and the whole house wthdraw.
Col Jas Maxwell Col Ephra. Aug' Herman and Mr Thos
Edmondson Membs of the Lower House Acquaint this house
that they Attend with Mr Wm Clayton a member Elected for
Talbot County Mr Stephen Knight a Member Elected for Cecill
County and Mr Roger Matthews a member Elected for Balte-
more County to see them Qualified
Thereupon the sevll Oaths Appointed to be taken by Act of
Assembly are Administred to the said Wm Clayton Stephen
Knight and Roger Matthews who Severally take the sevll Oaths
afd and Severally signed the Oath of Abjuration and Test ac-
cording to the Directions of the Act afd & so they withdraw
Col Richard Tilghman and Thos Bordley Esqr are desired
on behalf of this house to return their Thanks to the Revd Mr
Saml Skippon for his Sermon preached this day.
