late hasty pceedings of Thos Brooke Esqr tho we have Reason
to believe he Intended nothing more than our's and your Ser-
vice thereby; and very much Condemn the malicious Reports
and Insinuacons of those who have endeavoured to Disturb
the Minds of the good People of Maryland by Suggesting that
we had sent a private Como to the sd Thos Brooke to take upon
him the Governmt dureing the Residence of our late Lt John
