Wife and Abraham Turner be served with a Copy of the peto
that they may Appear here next Sessions if they think fitt to
Answer the same peto And leave given all Parties to Subpoena
Evidences to the next Sessions.
The Report of the Comittee of Accounts relating to the
maintenance formerly Provided for his Lpps honble Councill
was read and Ordered to be entered as follows Viz.
By the Come of Accounts
May the 31st 1717.
Pursuant to the Order of the lower House of Assembly
We have inspected into the Laws of this pvince and amongst
them We find an Act of Assembly made March 1670/1 that
raised two Shillings p hhd to the right honble Cecilius then
Lord and Propry of the said Province dureing his life time to
enable him in some measure to defray the many great and
Necessary Expences of Government and in particular to allow
Convenient Sallarys and Encouragement to the Lievtent gen-
erall and Chief Governour And to the Privy Councill of the
Lord & Propry of the province for the then Time being so as
wthout Prejudice to their Private Affair they might be en-
couraged and reasonably required to attend unto the Ad-
ministracon of Justice and other publick Concernments as
also towards the maintaining a Constant Magazine with
Arms and Ammunition for the Defence of the Province and
the Other Twelve pence p hhd was raised in Consideracon
of the Lord Propry taking his Quit rents and fines for Aliena-
cons in Tobacco at Two pence p pound.
We also find One Other Act of Assembly made May 1674
that gives the said Two Shillings p hhd in the same manner
as above by the first Law to the afd Lord Propry during his
Life and after his Decease to his Son Charles Calvert Esqr
then Capt generall and Governr of Maryland, during his Life.
We also further find An Act of Assembly made May 1676
tht Gives the said Two Shillings p hhd in the same Manner as
afd to the right honble Charles then Lord and Propry during
his Life and after his Decease to his eldest Son Cecilius during
his Life as p the Severall Laws, reference being thereto had
more at large appear.
