Which Message with his Excys Answer to the Message
Delivered afd by Mr Tyler & three more are sent to the Lower
House by Esqr Lloyd & Esqr Bordley who return & Say they
Delivered the same
Mr Tasker & Mr Ryder from the Lower House Deliver his
Excy the following Message Viz.

By the Lower House of Assembly Aprill the 22d 1720

May It please Your Honrs
It has been the Opinion of this house hitherto from generall
Causes that this Sessions would not have Continued so long
Considering there was but little publick Business then before
us so that from thence we reasonably might in favour of the
Parties Petitioning be willing to referr the further Considera-
tion of that Affair till next Sessions rather than Surprize them
by so Speedy a Determination which we take to be the Reason,
and Cannot Conceive that any Construction could be made of
our pretending to a right of Determining the Duration of the
Sessions wch was never Intended by us For We allow his
Excy has the only Prerogative under his Lordships to Deter-
mine the same

Mr Walter Smith and Mr Caldwell from the Lower House
Deliver his Excy the following Message Viz.

We return your Honrs our hearty thanks for your ffavour in
Obtaining his Excys Leave to Comunicate to us his Majesty's
Royall Lycence to him which haveing pused we herewith Re-
turn being well Satisfyed therewith.
