the Papists and their Adherents on them, and not as a present
from the Countrey.
And this I give under my hand because I am now and at all
times ready to Maintain the truth of what I say, That the
Honour and Safety of Maryland was at Stake at the time
I laid down my money to defend both.

In answer to which the following Message was prepared
Viz.

By the Lower House of Assembly June the 6th 1719

May it Please your Excellency
We are truely Sensible that your Excellency has been at
great expence in Maintaining the Laws of this Province
against the Invasion of Papists and Acknowledge the sum
proposed to be really but a reimbursment of a part of what
your Excellency has Disburst for the Honour and Safety of
Maryland and desire your Excellencys acceptance of it as
such.

Sent to the Upper House by Thomas Bordley Esqr and five
more.
They return and say they delivered it.
Ordered that Mr Stoddart & Coll. Woollford acquaint the
Upper house that Nothing of Publick business remains before
this house Unfinished.
They return and say they Delivd their Message.
Coll Young from the Upper house Acquaints Mr Speaker
that his Excellency Commands him to attend him with the
whole house Immediately in the Upper house.
Whereupon Mr Speaker with the whole house went to the

Upper house to Attend his Excellency where his Excellency
was Pleased to Enact the Severall Engrost bills following
into Laws by Sealing them with the Right Honourable the
Lord Proprietarys Greater Scale at armes of this Province
and endorsing them Severally in the Manner following Viz:

June the 6th 1719

On the behalf of the Right Honourable the Lord Pro-
prietary I will this be a Law

No I An Engrost bill for Supplying certain defects in a
