the bill for limitation of officers' fees wth the following Mes-
sage Viz:
By the Upper House of Assembly June 3d 1719
Gent.
By your Message of the first Instt you insist that we Con-
curr with you in regulating Officers fees as proposed in your
bill. We again Acquaint you that it is our opinion that the
proper time for that affair will be when his Lordship is of
Age, and is personally here (as we are informed he intends to
be) for then we Can argue the reasonableness of things, And
whatever is done will be Lasting Whereas if any thing be done
now, It will be Lyable to the Exceptions of interested persons
and so our Labours become fruitless. Besides we have no
reason to hope that his Excellency can allow of anything that
may be done at this time from the reasons he gives in our
Message of the first Instant
Gent. Tho we are of Opinion with you that some offices are
grievously burthensome and want a regulation, Yet we think
it improper to enter upon it at this time, for the reasons above-
said, And therefore recommend it to your Serious considera-
tion to bring in a bill to Continue the Act relating to Officers'
fees for so short a time, rather then by leting [it] Drop In-
volve the Countrey in Deficultys the consequence whereof we
are not able to Determine.
Signed p Order. John Beard Cl Up House
