By the Lower House of Assembly
June the Ist 1719.

May it Please your Honours

In Answer to your Message by Esqr Brook and five other
members of your house We are heartily Sorry to find that his
Excellency has not instructions to enable him to Concurr with
us in the regulation of officers fees according to the bill pre-
pared for that purpose. We finding that the officers fees as
Stated by the late Act are so great an Oppression to the In-
habitants of this Province that we rather incline to be without
a law for that purpose till the Arrivall of the Lord Proprietary
Than any longer to Groan under such hardships Therefore
referr it to your Honours consideration to concurr with us in
the bringing in the bill by us proposed.

And Sent to the Upper house by Mr Lee and fifteen more.
They return and say they delivered it.
Colo Ward from the Upper house acquaints Mr Speaker
That an Engrossed bill reviving an Act for the regulating the
Militia is read and assented to by that house And the En-
grossed bill reviving an act for the Encouragrnent of Tillage
and relief of poor Debtors.

This house adjourns till Eight a Clock to Morrow Morning.

We find that the Instances given by your Honours Message
of yesterday by Philemon Lloyd Esqr on the Engrost bill
relateing to Jurors Sufficiently evince the Efficacy of the Pro-
vision already made for the returns of Jurors for that altho
the law directs that the Sherr shall be fined 1000ll tobacco for
