Mr Tyler from the Committee of Aggrievances delivers Mr
Speaker the following report from the Committee viz:

It being too notorious an Aggrievance within this Province
that Servants running away from their Masters in other
Colonys and escaping into this Province where being taken
up and Confined as the law in Such Cases Directs and upon
informing their Masters in what County and where they are
confined they think not fitt to relieve them because paying the
fees Accruing upon Such Confinement or Imprisonment is
more to their prejudice then Utterly looseing their Servants.
Now so it is that no provision being Made what shall be done
with such Servants and it being an hardship upon the Sherriff
of every County where Such persons are Confined it is offered
by this Committee as an Hardship and referred to the house
for their consideration thereon.

And also Delivers him the petition of Masters of Ships for
the ease of Sailors in rowling tobacco referred by this House
to them with the following Endorsement viz:

By the Committee of Aggrievances
Saturday May the 23rd 1719.

In Pursuance to the within order this Committee Sat in
order to hear Proposalls of the petitioners but none Appearing

p. 56


on notice given it is again returned to the house for their
further Consideration.

Whereupon the same was rejected.
Bill explaining the repealing Act was read and ordered to be
thus Endorst viz:

By the Lower House of Assembly
May the 23rd 1719.

Read the first time and ordered a Second reading on Mun-
day.

The House adjourns till one a Clock.

Post Meridiem. The house meet according to Adjourn-
ment.

The House adjourns till eight a Clock Munday Morning.
