Colo Ward from the upper house delivers Mr Speaker the
petition of Samuel Lyle a poor prisoner in Calvert County
praying to be released from the Custody of the Sherriff of
Calvert County Thus Endorst viz:

By the Upper house of Assembly May 19th 1719.

On reading the within Petition it is referred to the con-
sideration of the Lower House.

Which was read and leave given to bring in a bill as prayed
and ordered the Committee of laws prepare the bill.
Ordered that the Serjant Attendant to this House take into
his custody Mr George Forbes for not Attending the Com-
mittee of Elections According to the Order of that Committee
and bring him before the house.
Mr fforbes according to the order of the House appears & on
his Submission is Discharged paying to the Serjeant and Door
keeper their fees.
The answer to his Excellencys Speech being prepared by
the Committee of laws was read and Approved and Ordered to
be entred as follows viz:

By the Lower House of Assembly May the 19th 1719.
May it please your Excellency
The many important occasions your Excellency was pleased
to Communicate by Your Speech at the beginning of this
Sessions Sufficiently Evince the Necessity of convening us at
this time, altho inconvenient to our private Affairs, but as we
shall always preferr the publick good to any private interest

of our own, we shall endeavour with Such unanimity and
dilligence to Apply and exert our Selves to the Dispatch of the
business now before us as may render our Services equally
acceptable to your Excellency and our Country
Wee are thankfull for their Lordships the Lords Guilford
and Baltemores Approbation of our late proceedings in As-
serting the authority of his Courts and Persons of his Minis-
ters, and we shall most Sincerely endeavour to merit the like
