Thursday June 6th 1717 In relation to An Act to be made for
Regulating Ordinaries &c.

The Committee Adjourns till six a Clock to morrow morn-
ing

Friday morning June 7th

The Conferrees meet According to Adjournment pr sent as
above
Whereupon the said Conferrees proceed to Consider the
Subject matter of their meeting Concerning the Act afd And
upon due Consideration & debate thereof, the said Conferrees
agreed that instead of the words mentioned in the preamble of
the said Law, accept of those Fines &c. these words following
be inserted Viz. Accept of our readiness in laying the fines
proposed on the Ordinary Lycences. Which we humbly referr
to the Consideration of the uper house.

Mr John Rousby and three others with a bill ascertaining
the Guage & Tare of Tobo hhds And to prevent Cropping Cutt-
ing & def aceing Tobacco taken on board Ships or Vessels upon
freight & for laying Impositions on Tobacco by the hogshead
&c. Amended, With the following Message

By the lower house of Assembly June 7th 1717
May it please your Honrs


We have Considered your honrs message by Philemon Lloyd
Esqr of yesterday with the method proposed as a regulation
of the Law relateing to his Lordship's revenue And by that it
seems their Lordships understand the giving up the quit rents
and Alienation fines as an Inducement to the raising the whole

duty of three shillings and three pence p hogshead which
never was the sense of the Country but that the fifteen pence
