to prevent croping Cutting and Defaceing Tobo taken on
board Ships or Vessels upon freight and for laying Impos on
Tobo by the hhd. for the Support of Governmt &c. Passed by
the Lower House
Mr Robert Tyler and two others from the Lower house with
a bill for quieting differences that may arise between his
Lordships Subjects of this Province and the several nations of
Indians of what places soever. Passed by the Lower House
Which being Read in this house is Endorsed as follows

June 5th 1717. By the Uper house of Assembly

Read the first time and will pass with the follo Amendmts
viz. that Instead of (his Lordships Subjects) in the Title, the
words (the Inhabitants.)

Present as in the forenoon

Mr Jowles & Mr John Fendal from the lower house with
an Ingrost bill for quieting Differences that may arise between
the English and Indians &c. Assented to by that house and
being Read is Assented to by this house.
His Excellency by my Lord Baltemore's Comand lays be-
fore this house for their Consideration a Paragraph proposed
to be part of the new revenue bill as the terms on which his
Lordship is willing to Continue the Act Entituled an Act
Ascertaining the Gauge & Tare of Tobo hogsheads And to
Prevent Croping Cutting and defaceing Tobo taken on board
Ships or Vessels &c as follows

And forasmuch as by the Enlargement of the Tobo hhds
from the late gauge of thirty Inches in the diameter of the
head to this Present guage a larger Quantity of tobo will be
Exported in each hhd whereby the duty & Imposition on Tobo
by the hhd will be Evidently retrencht & lessened unless a just
regard be had to the preservation of them in their usuall worth

Obliged to the said Impost or duty being to be applyed & paid
to the Lord Propry in recompence & full Satisfaction for his
Alienation Fines & Quitt Rents And the better to Enable his
