250 Assembly Proceedings, April 22-May 10, 1718.

Account of the matters in the Bill untill they were served with
Subpeena's to answer the Same of Which they declare the said
Maurice Birchfield might have had the Utmost Satisfaccon
they were able to give upon Subpoena to testify or request
made without being put to the unnecessary Charge to answer
the Same.
It is therefore the humble opinion of this Comittee that the
said Maurice Birchfield Esqr or others Concerned in the prose-
cution Afd have made an undue use of his Majesty's Name &
Authority to the oppression of his good Subjects here and
that Such proceedings could never be agreeable to the Designe
of the Trust reposed in him or them.

Yesterday's Proceedings are read.
Esqr Lowe from the Upper House delivers Mr Speaker a
bill to Supply defects in a Conveyance from Gary Burridge
and Cole to Browne thus Endorst viz:

May the 6th 1718.
Read the first Time and will pass.

Which was read in this House and the Question being put
whether the same shall pass for engrosing or not
Resolved in the Affirmative by the Majority of Votes.
Whereupon the same was past for engrosing and Sent to the
Come of Laws to be engrost.
And the Petition of Dominick Kenslagh thus Endorst viz:

By the upper house of Assembly May the 6th 1718.

Read and referr'd to the Consideration of the Lower
House.
Sign'd p Ordr Jno Beard Cl Up. Ho.

Which was read and leave given to bring in a Bill as prayed
and Ordered the Come of Laws Prepare the Bill.
