Thursday May the 30th
The House meet according to Adjournmt

Present as yesterday, save Esqr Hall who had leave to go
home.
The Petition of Moses Lecompt of Dorchester County
being Read whereby he shews that he was sued in Dorchester
County Court by Jonathan Bassett of New England in an
Action on the Case
That on Tryal the Petr obtained a Verdict in his favour but
that on false Suggestions to the Court by Mr John Kirk the sd
Bassetts Attorney a new Jury was Impannelled, who return'd
a Verdict for the said Bassett whereon he had Judgmt for one
pound nineteen shillings & six pence and Costs Wherefore
he Prays Relief in the Prmisses And such Decree as this
Board shall think fitt
The Record of the Proceedings of the said Court being also
Read, And Mr John Brannock appearing to be Attny for the
Petitioner,
Tis Resolved that the following message be sent to the

Lower House Viz

By the uper house of Assembly
May 30th 1717
Gent. We Desire that Mr John Brannock a member of your
house have leave to appear here to inform this Board of a
State of the Case between Jonathan Bassett of New England
and Moses Lecompt in Dorchester County Court wherein Mr
Brannock was Concerned as a Practitioner.

The Upper House Adjourns till three a Clock in the after-
noon
Post Meridiem

This house meet according to Adjournment Present as in
the forenoon.
The message prepared in the forenoon is Sent by Col Cour-
sey, who Returns & says he Delivered it.
Major Wilson & Mr Saml Hanson from the Lower house
with the follo message.
