of yr having an Esteem for him. Mr Hanbury hopes if at
present you can't favour Mr Philip Thomas you will his son
Wm they are Corespondts of his & plagues me much about
them. If you approve I shoud be glad you wod Speak to the
Father & acquaint him Mr Hanbury has made much Sollici-
tations on his sons behalf for gain of preferment wh tho at
present not had, will Mr Hanbury desires as a means
to convince them has endeavoured all Service to
Them. He further desires of me on the Behalf of Mr
Wostonholme for your friendship to him I know not how to
say to you Unless you think it proper to give him the Loan
office place Mr Stuart holds, as Mr Stuart will not be had
provided for either by the Land Office or as Naval Officer
at Annapolis, wh of them be his Lot.

Thus have unburthen'd my thoughts to you tho' not ac-
curately Laid in wh you will excuse all Errors as I have but
just time before the Ships departure to write thus to you.
I inclosed this to Mr Plater as I regard him a Man of
honour in Case as you was on Military exploits of Accident
to yr Person wh wod Grief to me to hear, however of non
deliverence to you to return it to me.

Post Mr Jening's is come up from Yorkshire where he is
settled, his Resignation is willingly with Respect to Mary-
land. But hopes in time some provision will be made for Mr
B rice his Kinsman, he desires your favour & Interest there-
in, he has My Lord's & my good wishes thereto so soon as
you can you will be obliging therein.

Dear Sr

The Revd Mr Thornton the Bearer from your Recommen-
dation My Lord obtain'd him Ecclesiastical Orders by the
Bishop of London, & his Lordp by Instructions Dated Decr
10th
last, sent you his Testimony of Real Approbation of
him as by induction into St Pauls Parish Queen Ann's
County, he Informs me he has a Brother in the Province,
for whom he Requests some favour, wch I hope he merits.
I therefore take the Liberty to joyn Issue by the Proprietor's
permission for your Kindness to him

Yours the 17th Decr I have just Reced Inclosed yor Speech
to the Assembly the 14th of Decr last, wch My Lord Approves
of, and is Pleased with the Address's in Answer from both
Houses to you.
