The Lower House, 53

It's Resolved the same is an Aggrievance and that the Honble
President and Council be addressed to redress the same as
followeth.

To the Hofible Edward Lloyd Esq. President, and the rest
of the Members of her Majesty's Honble Council of Maryland

The humble Address of the Deputies and Delegates of
the said Province in Assembly now convened

May it please your Honours
It is with the greatest Grief and Regrett that we are obliged
now to address your Honours to redress an Aggrievance com-
plained of to this House by the Committee of Aggrievances
upon the Petition of Several of the Inhabitants of this Province
That Laws or Acts assented to by your Honours and this
House and passed the great Seal here before her most Sacred
Majesty's Disallowance thereof signified should be held for null
and void by some of the Justices of the Provincial Court and
particularly the Act passed the last Session for relieving some
Aggrievances, for notwithstanding that Act as the Petitioners

L. H. J.
Lib. 41

set forth several Persons are still sued and prosecuted in the
said Court for small Sums
We cannot but conceive and agree with the Petitioners that
Attorneys are encouraged so to do by favour of the Person
that in the said Court acts both as a judicial and Ministerial
Officer

We assure your Honours we have no other End therein but
out of due and tender Regard and Duty incumbent upon us
to endeavour to redress the Aggrievances of the People we
represent and do with all Dutiful Respect lay the same Ag-
grievance before your Honours not doubting or any Ways
apprehending but that your Honours will (notwithstanding
the Relation between the Person and your Honble Board)
have a just and tender Regard to the Satisfaction and Relief
of her Majesty's Subjects and in your Wisdoms redress such
Aggrievances, as are laid before you by the Representative
Body of this Province and we conceive this to be one of the

first Rank and worthy your Honours Consideration and tho'
we can have no Suspicion of that Gentleman's Honour and
Integrity yet we crave Leave to say it is an ill Precedent and
may be of ill Consequence if in Process of Time any avaricious
or designing Persons should be in that Station
