Gentl. You will also by her Majesty's Royal Instructions
and the Representation of the Lords of Trade and Plantations
be sensible of the absolute Necessity of impowering some
proper Person to act as our Agent in Great Britain for want
whereof we may suffer in Things most reasonably proposed
by us.

Which being read together with her Majesty's Instructions
the House took the same into Consideration and being de-
bated was put to the Question whether a Bill be brought to
ascertain the Gauge of Tobacco Hhds according to the Gauge
in Virginia or not? Carryed in the Affirmative.
Resolved a Bill be brought in to ascertain the Gauge of
Tobacco Hhds to 30 Inches in the Diameter of the Head
within the Chime and forty Eight Inches in the Length of the
Stave under the Penalty of 600 Ib Tobo or 50 £ Sterling to
be paid by the Planter to the Use of the County where the
Offence shall be committed
Resolved a Bill be brought in to prevent Masters of Ships
from cropping Squeezing or defacing Tobacco under the
Penalty of 50 £ to the Use of the Party damnified.
Peter Saunders, Stephen Rashoon, and William Cady Peti-
tion praying Naturalization
Read and Resolved Leave be given to bring in a Bill ac-
cordingly

Mr John Rousby Naval Officer for Patuxent District ap-
peared in the House according to Order and produced Car-
naby's Entry Bond. And Ordered the same be delivered to
Mr Attorney General to consider of and endeavour to recover
the Money due to the Country for the Duty of those Negroes
short entered.
Mr Rousby delivered a List of his Naval Officers Fees and
Commission for Mr Plater's being Receiver of her Majesty's
Revenue, and as to his and Mr Platers publick Accounts said
they were sent to England and he only accountable to the
Governor and Council
Mr John Dansey's List of Fees laid before the House pur-
suant to Order of last Session
Colo Greenberry and Colo Tilghman enter the House and
deliver Mr Speaker the foll. Messa Viz.

Since we have so often let you know we cannot advise the
President to act any Thing contrary to her Majesty's Instruc-
