July the 2d 1714

May It please your Excellency

This House intended to take into Consideration that part
of her Majesty's Instructions relating to an House or Rent
laid before this House the 24th June, but finding the Short-
ness of the time will not admitt effecting what we desire And
being assured your Excellency is willing to bring this Session
to a speedy Conclusion by reason of the unseasonable time

of year and of our pressing Occasions to return to our Habi-
tations have referred the further Consideration thereof to the
next Session of Assembly And then hope to do therein what
will be to your Excellency's Satisfaction and pray your Excel-
lency's Concurrence thereto

Which being read his Excellency was pleased to say he was
Satisfyed therewith and directed the Honble Col Lloyd and Col
Holland to go to the House & acquaint them that his Excellency
concurs with the sd Message from the House of Delegates
The Petition of Mr Thos Reynolds of Ann Arundel County
being read praying that upon the expiration of the Sherriffs
Office of that County his Excellency would be pleased to grant
him a Commission therefore
The sd Petitioners Request upon the good Character of him
given his Excellency by several Gentlemen of the Council is
granted

The Board adjourned till Eight of the Clock to morrow
morning.

July 3d

The Council in Assembly Sate Present as yesterday
The Petition of Mr Philip Lee being again taken into Con-
sideration, Resolved the Petitioner pay Dutys for the Tobacco
Shipped in this Province but that no Dutys ought to be paid for
the Tobo Shipped in Virginia and ordered that this Resolve be
communicated to the respective Naval Officers in this Province

Lt Col Matt Tilghman Ward & three more Delegates brought
up the following Message Viz.
