The Honble Colo Ennalls, Colo Greenberry and John Hall
Esq. from the Council enter the House and deliver Mr Speaker
the following Message.
By the President and Council in Assembly
Novv 4th 1713.
We cannot but recommend to your Consideration the Ser-
vices of the Honble Colo William Holland, Colo Thos Smith
and the late Kenelm Chesyldine Esq. & other Gentl. that
were appointed by the late Governor to ride the Circuits and
act as Judges of the Assizes. The said Gentlemen we are
satisfied were at great Expences and Trouble on that Occasion
and could not deny the Commands of the Government then
imposed upon them and which were in Pursuance of her
Majesty's Directions to the Governor We desire you will
consider the Hardships they lie under not having dared to
deny the Execution of those Commissions and since the
Charge of the Provincial Courts was considerably lessened
thereby not suffer private Gentlemen and their Estates to be
damnified in the publick Servive but make them reasonable
Compensation for their Trouble and Expences

Which being read and debated Resolved there be no Allow-
ance made them and a Message be prepared and laid before
the House in Answer thereto to Morrow
The Petition of Thomas Emms with the Report of the Com-
mittee of Laws Read and Leave given to bring in a Bill
Colo Addison and Mr Secretary Lloyd enter the House and
inform Mr Speaker they are by the Honble Council appointed
to join the Members of this House to draw up the Address
and Remonstrance about the Tobacco Trade.
Ordered the Members of this House attend them accord-
ingly.
The House adjourned till to Morrow twelve o'Clock at
Noon.
