Mr Speaker and you Gentlemen of the House of Delegates
It having been under my Consideration when to call an As-
sembly I have been advised by her Majesty's Honble Council
to convene you at this Time, not doubting you will have it
in your View to dispatch the necessary Business of this Session
in as little Time as may be and that your Inclinations are to
place as little Charge upon your Electors as possible for which
Reason I hope you will expedite what may be recommended
to your Consideration, and also take the speediest Methods
to raise such necessary Supplies as may be needful to defray
the publick Charge of this present year, which I can with
Sincerity say I have endeavoured to make as light as I could.
Your hearty Efforts that way will not only convince the Coun-
try how careful your are of their Interest but also afford you
an Opportunity of returning in a few Days to your respective
Habitations.
Gentl I am not insensible some have a Notion I may assent
to any Law that may be proposed and 'tis therefore I am obliged
