By the Council in Assembly Sepr 28th 1704.
The Message this day about settling the Fees due for
private bills and transcribing the Laws of the last and this
present Sessions has been read and Considered by this
Board and as to the first Proposal for Copys of the Laws for
last Sessions which should then have been Settled we cannot
Think a less reward due therefore than what has been usual
that is to say one thousand pds of Tobo p Copy as may appear
by the County Levys this three or four years last past
That as to the Copys of this present Sessions we Cannot
believe any Person will undertake to do them well for less
than 2500 lb Tobo p Copy They being so many
Therefore desire so much may be allowed to the Keeper of
the Great Seal to Enable him to get them Speedily transcribed
as well to be Sent for England as to the County Courts
Thirdly as to the private Bills it being as absolutely neces-
sary that the Sealed Copy thereof be sent to England as of
other publick Laws we desire you will Explain whether you
meant the Keeper of the great Seal should take one hundd
and twenty pounds of Tobo for the original Law and the same
for each Copy or but one hundred and twenty pounds of
Tobo for all which is conceived unreasonably less than formerly
was allowed to wit four hundred and Eighty pounds of Tobo
for patent of Denization
We further observe to you that upon private Bills you have
not taken any notice of any Fees to the Clerk of this Board
who has as great Burthen of the Business of this Assembly as
any other Clerk Signed p order W Bladen Cl Coun.
