Day of Aprill One Thousand seven hundred and six raised a
certaine Sume of tobacco and mony amounting to the sume of
two hundred Sixty one thousand seven hundred twenty six
pounds of tobacco and the sume of One hundred Ninety Eight
pounds eleven Shillings and four pence Currant mony of this
province as by the Journall of the Comittee of accounts appears.

But by reason more publick charges may arise and grow
Due before the tenth day of October next which is the usuall
and accustomed time of payment att which time againe to Call
and Convene the whole Assembly for that occation only Con-
sidering the great number of them and the remoteness of their
habitation from the place appointed would be very chargable
and troublesome to the whole province in Generall for preven-
tion whereof.
Be it Enacted by the Queens most Excellent Majesty by
and with the advice and Consent of her Majestys Governour
Councill and Assembly of this province & The Authority of
the same that one Burgess or Delegate for each respective
County & one for the Citty of St Marys be and are hereby
Authorized and appointed a comittee to Joyne with some of her
Majestys honorable Councill to lay and Equally Assess the
said publick Levy of this province — (That is to say) of her
Majestys Honorable The Honorable Thomas Tench Esqr
Robert Smith Esqr Collonel John Hamond and Lieutenant
Collonel William Holland and of the house of Delegates for
St Marys Citty Mr George Muschamp for St Maries County
Mr William Watts Thomas Smith Esqr for Kent County, for

Ann Arundell County Mr Charles Greenberry for Calvert
County Mr John Leach for Charles County Collonel John
Contee for Baltemore County Mr James Maxwell for Somersett
County Mr John Maclaster for Talbott County Mr Nicholas
Lowe for Cecill County Mr Edward Blay for Dorchester
County Mr Hugh Ecclestone & for Prince Georges County
Mr Thomas Greenfield ; or the Major part of them shall be
and appear at the Towne and port of Annapolis the first tues-
day of October next then and there to lay and assess the said
publick Levy already Raised and also to allow Levy and Assess
what further Charges may accrue which to them shall Justly
appear to be Due from the publick not Exceeding two hun-
dred thousand pounds of tobacco and one thousand pounds
Currant mony of this Province more then what is already
raised & to apportion order and pay the same to the Severall
persons to whome the same shall be due and a fair Journall of
all their proceedings Deliver to the Clerk of the Assembly for
satisfaction of all persons therewth Concerned.
But if it shall happen that his Excellency shall please to
Convene an Assembly before the first Tuesday of October
