. not the House will renew the Order to the Treasurer to send
for it as also give an Order to the Treasurer for the painting
the Piaza Vestry House and Back Door of the Church.

Which being read in the House readily concurred and
ordered That Mr Saml Young employ some Person for paint-
ing the Piaza Vestry House & Back Door of the Church and
likewise to send for the Paving of the Church & Satisfaction
will be made by the Country.
The House adjourns till two o'Clock Afternoon

Post Meridiem. The House met again according to Ad-
journment and were present as in the Morning.
Proposed whether it be not for the Good and Advantage of
this Province to make Hemp and Flax approved of & resolved
a Bill be prepared for that Encouragement and to be rated
Hemp at 6d and Flax at 9d p H.
This House being informed that the Roman Catholicks had
this Day preferred a Petition to his Excellency and Council
wherein they have given his Excellency & that Honble Board
Satisfaction to their Objections on the former Petition and that
the Governor and Council were inclinable to give way to the
Bill for suspending Execution of Popish Priests.
Ordered That Major Thomas Beale and Mr Francis Dalla-
hyde carry the same up to his Excellency and Council
They return and say they delivered the Bill.
William Coursey Esq. from the Council enters the House
and delivers Mr Speaker Bill suspending the Prosecution of
Popish Priests indorsed April 16th 1706.

John Saunders Esq : from the Honble Council enters the
House and delivers Mr Speaker Bill for preventing Fornica-
tion &ta Indorsed By the Council in Assembly April 17th 1706
This Bill being read is thought very unreasonable and rejected.

And Message was referred till the morning.
Ingrossed Bill for Encouragement of Trade &ta read and
assented to by the House of Delegates.
Sent up to the Council for their Concurrence by Mr James
Hay and Mr John Mackall.
They return and say they delivered the Bill
Bill ascertaining Damages on Protested Bills,
