By the House of Delegates Aprll 10th 1706

In answer to Your Exncys and Honors Message of the 8th
Instant relating to some Gratification to be made to Colo
Smithson. This House have considered that it is not long
Since that a Gratification was made to the said Colo Smithson
of fifty pounds for his Services to the Country : And they are
of Opinion that that Gentlemans Services to the Countrye are
not so very eminent above all others to deserve a Distinguish-
ment by way of Rewarde

Thursday Aprill 11th 1706

The Councill Sate present as yesterday Saving Colonel
Holland who had leave to go home to fetch some Papers nec-
essary for defending his Clayme to some Lands now in dispute
before this Assembly
A Bill ascertayning the Navigation of Open Sloops and

p. 37

Shallopps in respect of the Enumerated Comoditys being read
was approved of and sent to the House by Col Lloyd & Mr
Coursey.
The following Memoriall was prsented from the Lord Balti-
mores Agent to his Exncy the Governr & read at the Boarde

Aprill 9th 1706

May it please Yor Exncy

I humbly hope Your Exncy will not take amiss now a second
tyme to have reprsented to You the Delay of doing the Rt
Honble the Lord Baltimore Proprietary of this Province Right
& Justice pursuant to the Rt honble the Lords Comissionrs for
Trade & Plantations Letter in reference to the Law intituled
an Act for ascertayning the Bounds of Lands where by the
Birth right Propertye and Inheritance of the said Lord Balti-
more is palpably invaded, as it was plainly made appeare to
the said Lords Comissioners about three years past whereupon
the said letter was writt to this Governmt

The Confidence I have in the Justice of yor Exncy and
Hon:ble Councill gives me an Assurance of being rendered
Capable to informe his Lordp my Mat by this Fleete that his
Lordp in this Affaire has had his Share with her Matys Sub-
jects of this Province in the Experience of your Exncys knowne
