The afd Bill being read the Boarde are willing the same
should pass And his Exncy is pleased to name the new
County by the Name of Queene Anns County.
Col Hafnond & Colonel Jenkins were ordered to carry
downe the Bill to the House,

Wednesday Aprill the 10th 1706
The Councill Sate present as yesterday

Then was read the Petition of Major Josiah Wilson High
Sherriffe of Ann Arundell County, praying reliefe agt the
Act of Assembly enjoyning the Sherriffs to execute many
Precepts ex Officio.
On Consideration whereof the said Act seems to be very
harde on the said Sherriffs there being no Allowance to
those tho' to all other Officers in Criminall Causes. And
therefore the Petition is recomended to the Considracon of
the House of Delegates that they will by Some Small Addi-

tionall Law make such Allowance to the Several Sherriffs
of this Province Whereby the execution of Justice may be
encouraged & expedited, for as the Law now stands It is
a greate impedimt to justice
This Pet. so endorsed was sent to the House by Col
Lloyd.

Mr Joseph Ennalls & Mr Beale brought the Reporte of
the Comittee in answer to the Secrys Petition to her Ma'ys
for Ordinary Lycences
Which was read at the Boarde and agreed to by her Matys
honble Councill & is as followeth

Aprill the 10th 1706

The Report of the Comittee of Laws in Relation to the
passing of the Bill for Ordinary Keepers and giving the Fine
for the Same to the Countys.

The Comittee have made Diligent Search into the Journalls
of the house of Assembly & find that in the year 1662 There
was An Act made Intituled An Act for the Encouragement of
Ordinary Keepers without any fine given for Lycenses which
was but to Continue for three years.
