Saturday Aprill 6th 1706
The Councill Sate Present as Yesterday.

The Petition of Henry Roberts of Anne Arundell County
read praying leave that a Bill might be brought in to illegiti-
mate the issue of Ellinor Roberts Wife of John Roberts decd
upon Sufficient Reasons and Proofs to be given to Such
Comittee or persons as the Generall Assembly shall be pleased
to appoint to inquire thereinto.

Journal.

The Notorious ill life and Conversation of the sd Ellinor
Roberts being well knowne to sevrall of this Boarde. They
do recomend it to the House to admitt such Bill to be brought
in upon due sumons served on the said Ellinor & the Petrs
Proofs made It being often practicable in England. And tho'
there has yet been no Example of this kind in this Province ;
yet it is conceived it will be fitt to do the Petitioner Justice and
discourage Such Licentious Vicious Women
The said Petition with the aforegoing Endorsement sent to
the house by Mr Sanders.
Colonel Lloyd & Col Ennalls ordered to acquaint Mr
Speaker & the house that this Boarde wayte the Conference.
The Petition of Capt George Harris praying Leave that a
Bill may be brought in for Sale of Charles Ridgleys Lands
for paymt of his Debts Which being read at the Boarde is
Sent to the house by Colonel Jenkins.
The Petition of -Mr Thomas Edmondson of Talbott County
Setting forth that he had conveyed nine hundred Acres of
Land to his Bro' Wm Edmondson who is dead and the con-
sidracon unpayd and praying leave to bring in a Bill to
reinvest the sd Lands in the Petitioner, being read is recom-
ended to the house of Delegates and sent by Mr Smith.
The Board adjourn'd till 8 of the Clock on Munday Morn-
ing.

and Mr Coursey.

It being considered that the prsent Session of Assembly
have no prospect of concluding in less than a fortnight or
three weeks; Therefore least the two Courts should interfere,
It is advised that the Provinciall Court be adjourned for a few
days untill the I4th Day of May next. And thereupon His
Exncy is pleased to order the said Writt of Adjournmt to be
